SIMA Announces Board Appointments and Election Results

SIMA has announced its board and officer appointments for 2022, and some new faces have joined the ranks.

SIMA has announced its board and officer appointments for 2022, and some new faces have joined the ranks.

Board members are elected to two-year terms. The following industry executives were recently re-elected to the Board of Directors after their terms expired:

  • Dylan Slater, President, Rip Curl North America
  • Cathey Curtis, General Manager, ROXY, Americas Region
  • Chad Crites, General Manager/Operations of Americas, The Leisure Collective
  • Ryan Hitzel, Founder, Roark
  • Todd Prestage, Regional Manager Americas for Surf Hardware International

In addition, Cory Higgins, CMO and Co-Founder at Jetty Life, is a new addition to the SIMA Board of Directors. Previously, he served on the Advisory Board.

“Cory will be helping to represent the East Coast voice of the surf industry,” SIMA Executive Director Vipe Desai said.

Those members above join six others on the Board of Directors who are entering the second year of their term, including:

  • Paul Naude, CEO of Vissla
  • Debby Martin, National Sales Manager, L*Space
  • Mike Matey, VP of Sales, Reef

  • Kiki Prince, SVP, Apparel, Footwear and Accessory Sales, Roxy

  • Daniel Hernandez, Director, Apparel Merchandising, Vans

SIMA also announced the Executive Officers of the board.

  • Paul Naude returns as President
  • Dylan Slater returns as Vice President
  • Cathey Curtis returns as Secretary
  • Todd Prestage is the new Treasurer

In addition, SIMA has added new blood to the Advisory Board.

New members include:

  • Josh Kendrick, former Head of Athlete Marketing and Performance at Red Bull North America
  • Susan Izzo, a sports management and marketing veteran

They join the other continuing members of the Advisory Board:

  • Vince De La Pena, VP Global Marketing at Vissla
  • Robert Graff, SVP Brand Partnerships and Media at Wasserman
  • Graham Stapelberg, EVP/GM Tours and Events at World Surf League
  • Roy Turner, SVP Emerald Expositions
  • Mike Reilly, VP of Sales North America at Quiksilver

“These reappointments and appointments represent consistency in our board leadership while also preparing our organization for the future by adding expertise, skills and perspectives that will help our industry thrive,” said SIMA President Paul Naude.
