Press Release:
Industry Sales Veteran, Protect Our Winters Treasurer, Joins Movement as Premium, Eco-Conscious Personal Audio Collection Readies Summer Launch
COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, MI — March 18, 2011 — The House of Marley, which will launch its first collection of premium, eco-conscious personal audio products from the family of Bob Marley this summer, today announced that Jennifer McVey has joined the company as Director of Sales, Lifestyle.
In this new role, effective immediately, McVey will lead The House of Marley sales and distribution activity for the skate, street, snow, surf, outdoors and associated retail channels. She reports to Don Inmon, General Manager of The House of Marley.
McVey brings nearly 15 years of experience to The House of Marley with a focus on helping lifestyle brands achieve what she calls, “the triple bottom line” of planet, people and profit.
She is treasurer of Protect Our Winters (https://www.ProtectOurWinters.org), a non-profit organization started in 2007 by pro snowboarder, Jeremy Jones, to unite the winter sports community towards a common goal of reducing climate change’s effects on our sports and local mountain communities.
She joins The House of Marley after a 10-year relationship with Nikita Clothing, an Icelandic clothing brand founded by its head designer, Heida Birgisdottir and friends, in a tiny skate/streetwear store in Reykjavik 10 years ago.
McVey most recently served as International Sales Manager for Nikita EHF, responsible for sales, marketing and operations in all non-European territories, including the United States and Australia. She earlier served as Vice President and General Manager of Nikita Clothing USA, Inc.
“We believe The House of Marley will not only change the face of personal audio products, but that we can make a lasting impact on the world which is true to the Marley family’s core values,” said Inmon.
“Jen understands how to help brands change the way business gets done. We’re thrilled that she will help introduce The House of Marley into the essential lifestyle and youth culture marketplace.”
McVey began her association with Nikita as President and Founder of Deep Distribution International, a full-service distribution company for brands interested in penetrating the US action sports and street-wear markets.
Her partners included Nikita, A Snowboards from France (purchased by Rossignol), WESC from Sweden, and Becky Bags from New York. Earlier, she served as International Sales Manager for Timbuk2 Designs and began her career with Switch Manufacturing, which was acquired by Vans, Inc.
“The House of Marley is my perfect storm, combining sustainability, music and consumer products with a mission that is true to my beliefs,” said McVey. “I’m honored to be working with the family and the team at The House of Marley as we invite people worldwide to enjoy our spectacular range of audio products and join a very special movement.”
McVey is an honors program graduate of the University of San Diego and received her MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management. She received a certificate from the executive program in sustainable management from the Presidio Graduate School in San Francisco.
