Former Vans President Steve Murray has resigned his position as Global President of the Urban Outfitters brand, Urban Outfitters announced today.
Steve held the job for a year, and had received high praise from CEO Glen Senk. Senk told analysts in January at an investment conference I attended that Steve was “one of the best hires we have ever made.”
He described Steve as a “disruptive person in the best sense of the word, and Urban needed a disruptive personality. That’s Steve Murray.”
Glen was using the term disruptive here as it’s often used in the technology word, meaning innovative and forward thinking.
Steve is returning to London to take a job at a wholesale company with an international focus, according to the press release.
I have an email into Steve to find out more about his new job.
Senk will take on Steve’s job in addition to his CEO role while the company searches for a replacement.
