Huntington Surf & Sport Owner Aaron Pai shared some details with us about the new Volcom store next to HSS.
The store is part of a partnership between Volcom and HSS that is similar to the ones between HSS and the Hurley and Billabong stores that are adjacent to or close to HSS, Aaron said.
Where exactly is the new store? Does it have its own entrance?
The new Volcom store is located at the corner of Main Street and PCH, Huntington Beach, which is considered by many to be the “Times Square” of the Surfing World. Huntington Beach sees some 15 million beach visitors every year. Some 50,000 cars pass by HSS every day.
We bought out the hot dog guy next door to our HSS Pierside location and took over his space. Then we blew out all the walls, moved our Kids Department over to the hot dog space and gave Volcom the suite that used to house our Kids Department along with some of the hot dog guy’s square footage.
Yes, it does have its own entrance onto PCH along with its own entrance from our main floor. It is located on the south end of HSS right in front of Duke’s Restaurant.
Does it give Volcom more real estate in the store? Is it all Volcom products – guys, girls, kids?
Yes! Volcom now has about 700 more square feet, along with two new signs on the exterior of our building. I’d like to note, that while Volcom’s increased square footage is important, even more significant is the location of the Volcom store at Main Street and PCH. Many in our Surf Industry see that intersection as the epicenter of the surfing world.
The Volcom store carries guys and kids. We still have Volcom Girl’s over in the HSS girl’s section.
When did the store open?
Friday, June 17th at 4pm right after our final fire inspection.
Our goal is to make the new Volcom store “the best that it can be now and in the future!” I can honestly say that Richard Woolcott, Tom Ruiz and the Volcom team are pouring a lot of time, energy and hard work into this new store. They all seem pretty stoked.
See the slide show above for more photos of the store.
