Press Release:
SNOWBOARDER JAMIE ANDERSON SIGNS ON FOR ANOTHER THREE YEARS WITH BILLABONG
IRVINE, CALIFORNIA – (June 6, 2011) — Jamie Anderson, arguably the most dominant women’s snowboarder in the world today, has inked another long-term agreement with Billabong.
Anderson had an unprecedented year in the 2010/11 season. She won nearly every slopestyle event, convincingly captured her second TTR World Title, was named the overall Winter Dew Tour Champion, and brought home a gold medal from the European X Games.
“We are thrilled to be continuing our support of Jamie,” said Candy Harris, Billabong Brand Director, “she has become a true icon for the sport and we know the future holds no limit to her accomplishments.”
Growing up in South Lake Tahoe, Anderson started snowboarding at age nine as part of the Sierra at Tahoe Team. She very quickly rose to the top of the snowboarding world, becoming the youngest Winter X Games medalist by age 15. Her burgeoning talent swiftly caught the attention of Billabong and the snow sports industry media alike.
“It feels amazing to sign with Billabong for another three years, and I’m so proud to work with such a great company,” said Anderson. “I’m excited about expanding the Jamie Anderson Collection and couldn’t be happier about the relationship.”
In anticipation of the 2011/2012 winter season, the Jamie Anderson signature outerwear collection will be released on September 1, 2011.
“The expansion of her signature collection to a broader street wear market will be a great opportunity to see her influence shine both on and off the mountain,” explained Billabong’s Candy Harris.
All this success at the age of 20 has not changed her outlook on the sport of snowboarding she loves so much. Anderson still finds time to go boarding with her friends on those infamous bluebird powder days at Sierra with no photographers and no filmers — just pow runs in The Gates.
Anderson continues to advance the sport as and cement her reputation as slopestyle’s leading lady while continuing to document and share her travels filming projects for Jamie Anderson Visuals.
She will be focusing more on her backcountry riding and she will also try her hand at qualifying for the 2014 Olympics in Russia. Jamie will be enjoying some down time at home this summer but will start competing again at the Burton Open in New Zealand in August.
