(Aliso Viejo, Calif.)– JANUARY 27th, 2015: Vissla is proud to play a key role in the reintroduction of a Qualifying Series (QS) event to historic Burleigh Heads, Queensland, Australia in January 2015. The three-day 2015 Scoot Burleigh Pro presented by Vissla will be a World Surf League (WSL) QS 1000-rated Men’s and Women’s event taking place January 30-February 1.
The Scoot Burleigh Pro presented by Vissla is truly an iconic event, the contest originally being the first of its kind to feature man-on-man heats in competitive surfing format. Decades later and still at Burleigh’s hollow, reeling righthand point, some of the best in the world will have it out on those same emerald growers.
The event, or “Blood on the Rocks at Burleigh,” as Wayne “Rabbit” Bartholomew fondly describes it will have a $15,000 prize purse and should provide the perfect warm-up for competitors later competing at the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro CT events at Snapper Rocks.
Being the very first QS comp on the 2015 Australian surfing calendar — and renewing an Australian cultural legacy — the Scoot Burleigh Pro presented by Vissla is a fitting event to kick the year off.
