Surfer Magazine Editor-in-chief Brendon Thomas is departing to take a new job at The Surfer’s Journal.

Brendon has been in the editor role for five years, and has worked at Surfer for a decade. In his new job, he will the Operations Manager.

The Surfer Journal’s Steve Pezman, who along with his wife, Debbee, founded the publication, said via email:

“Having been at the wheel for 25-years, Debbee and I have been seeking the next generation to steer TSJ wherever their creative juices will take it. What we’ve tried to establish is an ethic and style to serve as a foundation. So far, we’ve really been fortunate in who we’ve been able to enlist.

“For Brendon to be joining us is potentially a threshold event that will allow us to maintain our trademark traditions while constantly evolving.

“Brendon brings his in-depth familiarity with surfing on all levels, surf publication experience at the editorial helm of surfing’s most storied title, plus his solid background in today’s communication technology.

“We anticipate Brendon assuming the position of publisher as soon as we mesh and he seats his valves a bit. We are a little different than the hectic, ad-driven monthly that he is used to, but no less challenging.”

Brendon starts his new job in May.
