Vans joins Tillys and Artists Republic to celebrate first mural in Irvine by Zio Ziegler

IRVINE, Calif.- Wednesday, June 17th, 2015 – VansĀ®, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand is excited to partner with Tillys, Inc. (NYSE:TLYS) and Artists Republic to unveil plans for a large scale mural created by artist Zio Ziegler. Beginning July 6, 2015, this three-month art exhibition will be of vast cultural value to the community raising awareness to local arts programming and the cultural depth that lives in Orange County.

Vans, Tillys and Artists Republic each support local and global artists through events, gallery exhibitions and product collaborations. The partners have tapped into long-time friend Zio Ziegler to transform the exterior wall of Tillys Ecommerce facility located at 17 Pasteur in Irvine, CA. The public exhibition, one of the largest in Orange County, will be visible to the hundreds of thousands of commuters traveling the 405 Fwy on a daily basis. Known for his paintings and large-scale outdoor murals, Ziegler will ambitiously cover the 15,000 square foot wall in just three days.

Ziegler’s powerful work appeals to many walks of life, young and old. It has tones of influence from historical and literary figures to master painters, while having a contemporary style that speaks to the modern world. Orange County is known for its population of both well-versed and well-educated residents, as well as cutting-edge companies and brands that are pushing the envelope. Ziegler’s art resonates across these communities and both his involvement and the scale of this project will bring worldwide attention to the amazing cultural experiences happening here in Orange County.

Zio Ziegler (born February 18, 1988) is an American artist, known for his intricately patterned paintings and his large-scale murals that can be seen in major cities in the U.S., Europe and Asia. His work reflects the diverse influences of late medieval and quattrocento painting, aboriginal, African and naĆÆve art, and the European graffiti movement. Driven by intuition and depicted with a playful use of space and materials, his subject matter reflects the human condition, with reference to allegorical, mythical and artistic lineage.Ā  He paints in the belief that his paintings complete themselves by triggering self-discovery in their viewers.
