Agenda will expand its push in Miami by adding a summer show in 2016 that coincides with Miami Swim Week, Agenda Founder Aaron Levant told SES.
Agenda is already moving its East Coast January show from New York to Miami on Jan. 18 and 19.
Brands that have committed to the January Miami show include Volcom, Brixton, RVCA, Stance, Element, Poler, Huf, Captain Fin, ourCaste, Roark, Katin and Herschel, according to Aaron.
Aaron said Agenda decided to make a long-term commitment to move its entire New York operation to Miami for both the winter and summer shows.
“As a company, Reed Fashion Group will still operate six shows in the men’s and women’s New York markets with both Axis and Capsule,” he said. “Between those two shows, we are very well represented for any brands that feel the need to have a presence in the city during those market weeks.”
As far as the July show, there are many benefits to scheduling it at the same time as Miami Swim, he said.
“Swim Week in Miami has become a key time not only for retailers but also for press. Agenda has always followed the strategy of joining existing market weeks, like when we entered New York Men’s market week and fashion week in Las Vegas. We have always seen great success by entering into an already bustling market of buyers, distributors, and press.
“With all of the key men’s focused surf and swimwear at Agenda and the women’s swimwear during Swim Week – Miami Swim, Cabana, Hammock, private showings, and runway presentations -we feel that the two shows complement each other well,” he said.
We asked Aaron how retailers have responded to the change in venue for the January show.
“Most of the same retailers that attended our New York show will be in Miami,” he said. “We are also anticipating a large presence of great retailers from the Southeast/Mid-Atlantic and Puerto Rico such as Ron Jon, 17th Street, The Room, Tiendas La Gran Via, and BC Surf & Sport.
“We also have many national accounts, chain stores, and online retailers confirmed to attend such as Urban Outfitters, Zumiez, Fred Segal, Active, PacSun, and Zappos.”
