The industry turned out for Surfside Sports’ annual Snow Carnival, which kicks off the snow season for the important core retailer in Costa Mesa.
A wide range of brands set up booths with games for shoppers and the store had a big one-day sale. We saw long lines at the cash registers and shoppers walking out with bags of goods and new snowboards under their arms.
So many industry executives attend, it’s almost like a trade show. For that reason, we learned several pieces of news including:
- Aaron Quigley is now leading sales at VonZipper. He was formerly with Captain Fin.
- Drew Dolkas, who used to hold that position at VonZipper, is now leading sales for Roark. He replaced Mike Mechling, who is now working in real estate.
- Erik Leines, a founder of Celtek gloves, is now a merchandiser at Stance.
We have lots of photos of other industry people we saw during the day above in our slide show.
