Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend the big event Boardriders put on earlier this month to kick off the rebooting of the former Quiksilver Foundation, which has been renamed the Boardriders Foundation.

The team there sent us some photos and recap of the Fête de Bayonne Golf and Festival, In Memory of Pierre Agnes.

The event included golf, games, a reception and dinner and raised money for the foundation, which supports charitable causes focused on the environment, education, science, water, wellness and sustainability.

Bob McKnight said even during Quiksilver’s difficult times, Bob and Pierre had talked about restarting the foundation when the time was right and the company had its financial strength back.

Pierre loved the Fête de Bayonne, and choosing that theme was a way to honor him. Bob said the company is still processing the horrible January boating accident, but Pierre’s spirit lives on in the company’s brands, employees, friends and his family.

Pierre’s wife, Marianne, attended the foundation event, which was held at The Ranch at Laguna Beach.

We have photos from the day, courtesy of Boardriders, in our slide show.
