adidas Outdoor, the athletic brand in the outdoors, today announced the opening of a new office in the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, Colorado that will serve as a Rocky Mountain area showroom and center for key sales operations. Located at 170 W 10th St., Suite 710, the 2,400-square-foot office shares the building with the American Alpine Club.
adidas Outdoor’s expansion to Golden comes as the result of dramatic brand growth in the U.S. for both the adidas Terrex Brand and the Five Ten Brand. Continued growth at the Los Angeles headquarters and the addition of four key sales managers, all residing in Colorado, makes the new location ideally located for the future.
“The Colorado office’s central location will help better support our core customers and keeps our focus close to the mountains where our inspiration comes from,” said Greg Thomsen, managing director for adidas Outdoor USA. “We’re excited with the growth of both the adidas Terrex Brand in the US and the continued momentum and strength of the iconic Five Ten brand.”
The new office comes in combination with an increasing presence in the state. As the key sponsor of the annual Aspen Backcountry Marathon & Half Marathon in collaboration with the City of Aspen, and the title footwear sponsor of the Audi Power of Four Trail Run Series, in collaboration with Aspen Skiing Company, adidas Outdoor has a strong relationship with the region. It builds upon these collaborations and also enables the company to initiate brand activations around the Outdoor Retailer Show’s new home in Denver.
Pete Schuster, adidas Outdoor director of sales for the U.S., will lead the new office, working closely with Loren Gwartney-Gibbs, adidas Outdoor key account manager.
Schuster noted, “The new office means more opportunities to connect with the organizations and retailers in the Rockies and provides a meeting place for key accounts for line showings, and events around industry and outdoor events.”
About adidas Outdoor
adidas Outdoor is the athletic brand in the outdoors. The company’s founder, Adi Dassler, designed equipment solutions for athletes that improved their performance. The long history of adidas Outdoor began in the 1970s with the creation of the first light trekking shoes. Climbing legend Reinhold Messner helped adidas design super light and fast approach hiking shoes for his first Everest ascent without supplemental oxygen in 1980. The tradition continues today with products influenced by Messner, as well as notable extreme outdoor adventurers from around the world.
