Portugal. The Man and special guest Brittany Howard performed at the grand opening of DICK’S Sporting Goods’ new concept store, Public Lands, in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The artists and avid outdoor enthusiasts shared the stage on National Public Lands Day celebrating the store’s opening as well as their passion for the conservation of our country’s public lands. The artists performed hits including “Stay High” and “Feel It Still.”
DICK’S Sporting Goods is opening a second Public Lands location next month in Columbus, Ohio. The concept of Public Lands aims to celebrate and protect public lands for all through educating the importance of conservation and uniting local communities to join the movement while experiencing the outdoors.
The Public Lands stores, occupying two former Field & Stream spaces, are 50,000 square feet in size and feature outdoor experiences like climbing walls and specialized shops dedicated to different activities such as camping, biking and hiking.
While announcing a blowout Q2 last month, DICK’S CEO Lauren Hobart said they see a real opportunity to reinvent the outdoor marketplace. She said she believes Public Lands to be a great growth vehicle for the retailer while also supporting the local community through conservation, access and equity-based initiatives.
