Quiksilver Waterman is the title sponsor for the Carolina Cup, the largest paddling festival combining paddle races, clinics, product displays, and entertainment. The 8th annual Quiksilver Waterman Carolina Cup is set to draw roughly a thousand event participants and several thousand spectators. Embodying waterman culture, Quiksilver is proud to feature its latest paddle-inspired pieces from the Quiksilver Waterman Collection, along with an intimate talk with 10-time World Paddle Champion and WSL Big Waver Tour competitor, Jamie Mitchell.
Inspired by the ocean and cultivated from the company’s deep boardriding roots, the Quiksilver Waterman Collection is a premium line of design-driven sportswear for those who live active lifestyles on the water. Featuring a classic, outdoor aesthetic combined with performance fabrics and technology, Quiksilver Waterman will debut the new collection at the event with a special pop-up shop to discover the latest offerings.
Highlights from the collection include Paddler and Paokalani Boardshorts made from Quiksilver’s famed Diamond Deluxe 4-Way stretch material combined with the newly configured Dryflight hydrophobic coating created to repel water and speed up drying time. Meanwhile the Gut Check UV top offers 40+ UPF protection and is crafted with flatlock seams to eliminate rash.
“We sought to really put the active paddler first in this collection,” says Pat Fraley, Quiksilver Waterman manager. “Our athletes and designers spent countless days on the water refining the fits and finding the best materials for spending hours on the water. Jamie [Mitchell] played a huge role in making sure that our apparel performs day-in day-out on the ocean.”
The collection will be available for purchase during the event at the Quiksilver Waterman booth and at Redix Southern Lifestyle Outfitters.
JOIN US FOR THE TALK STORY WITH JAMIE MITCHEL
On Thursday April 19th at 6PM, Quiksilver will host a conversation with Jamie Mitchell at Waterman‘s Brewing Company. The Talk Story series – where athletes delve into their careers and what drives them – will offer a rare insights into Mitchell’s life and experiences as a waterman and world champion paddler.
In addition to the conversation, there will be a screening of Mitchell’s new documentary “Journey of the Waterman.” The film, made in partnership with sustainable seafood producer Verlasso, explores aquaculture through the eyes of Mitchell as he moves through the communities that raise the world’s salmon.
“As a waterman, I’m always paying attention to the ocean and living my life in rhythm with the sea,” says Mitchell. “Seeing how dedicated the aquaculture farmers are to sustainability and how similar their relationship to the ocean is to a waterman or surfer like myself has inspired a whole new sense of commitment to sustainability.”
